About the Sisterhood

The Sisterhood of Freyja was formed in May 1102 by Lady Elener of The Wolves (specifically The White Wolves) when she became the Chosen of Freyja. The Sisterhood aims to promote both the Goddess Freyja and girl power Norscan style.

Most beautiful and sexually attractive of the goddesses of the Vanir, Freyja is the foremost of the fertility goddesses. Freyja is generally free with her favours and loves gold and jewels. According to the stories she slept with four dwarfs (one on each of four consecutive nights, not all together, she may have put it about a bit but she wasn’t that bad!) to get a necklace she coveted – The Necklace of the Brisings.

Freyja is also associated with war. She rides into battle in a chariot drawn by two cats. It is also said that she divides the slain with Odin, half go to Valhalla and half to her hall Sessrumnir on folkvang (field of folk) in Vanaheim.

She has connections with the world of the dead and is said to have been mistress of magic and witchcraft owning a falcon skin which enabled her spirit to take the form of a bird, travel to the underworld and come back with prophecies and knowledge of destinies.

The Sisterhood have Freyja's Sword, a mighty weapon which shall only be welded by a woman. It has been used in battle many times, and with great honour and success, by members of The Storm Wolves.
